Top Shoes on my Wish List

Image
This blog is going to be a little different then previous blogs mainly focused on my music interests. The subject of this blog is going to be shoes on my wish list. A few years ago I got really into the culture of shoes specifically the rare shoes that are released in limited numbers typically a collaboration between a small brand and a big sneaker brand. The first shoe that I was lucky enough to get through one of these drops was the Kith Aspen Ultraboost Mids pictured below. I instantly loved how unique the pattern on the upper and already loved how comfortable the other pairs of Ultraboosts were. It also was an extremely popular shoe since this was the first time Adidas made an Ultraboost as a mid. The original Ultraboosts are extremely popular and that made this pair hard to get. Currently they are going for about $500 on StockX almost three times what retail was. This year the hypest shoe released were the Nike/Off White collection. The deconstructed Nikes combined with

2 New Trey Songz Mixtapes!

C'MON! A few days ago Trey Songz dropped two mixtapes with little to no warning. This isn't the first time he's done this. Trigga has came out with numerous mixtapes that went under the radar from his Anticipation series to collabs with Chris Brown and Fabolous. If you haven't peeped those give them a listen. The Anticipation series will have you and your boo feeling romantic or have you texting your ex at 4 AM. The two EPs with Chris Brown and Fabolous will get you ready to turn up for the night. My Favorite Megamixes!

What is a megamix? You may be asking... Well, glad you asked, a megamix is a song that was remixed to feature a ridiculous amount of rappers normally at least 6 or more. Sometimes these are mixed together from various "freestyles rappers did. These types of songs peaked in late 2000s and you even saw people pull a verse from one song and put it to another beat to make it seem like a mega mix Racks on Racks  YC (Feat. CyHi Da Prynce, Young Jeezy, Bun B, Twista, B.o.B., Big Sean, Yo Gotti, Cory Gunz, Nelly, Trae The Truth, Waka Flocka, Wale, Wiz Khalifa, Cory Mo, Dose & Ace Hood) - Racks on Racks (Remix) The YC hit mega remix features 13 artists and lasts almost 13 minutes. I am slightly embarrased to admit how many times I've listened to this song and that it's downloaded onto my iTunes. Best verse: Young Jeezy or Big Sean A Mili While this one is the least official and a blend of every rapper who spit a verse over this Wayne beat I'll still consider it.

What was the Most Hype Album/Moment in Recent Memory/RARE Ultimate Hypeplaylist - Scientific Investigation

Every year there's an album or artist the captures the culture. From people carrying around gas containers with Crunk Juice to everyone trying to get a pair of Gucci flip-flops. Currently, ASTROWORLD has people going crazy, just watch Travis Scott's recent Lollapoloza performance as proof. Today I am going to try my best to determine which moment/album/artist had us the most hype/crunk/lit. I'll also highlight which song Waka Flocka- Flockaveli The first album from Waka came hard with banging beats from Lex Luger. Biggest hits on the album were Hard in the Paint and No Hands. Since this album came out we haven't see Flocka come with nearly as much fire as this. But when this first came out he had people going crazy. The album also had a few hidden jams like TTG and Snakes in the Grass. Final Hype rating: 7/10 My rating is due to the fact that most songs were overtly about violence so not everybody was trying to go crazy. Most of the songs hold up we

My Ultimate Dancehall Playlist

Image
Once in a while, I'll go for about of week or so listening to a certain type of music. A couple weeks ago I listened to dancehall for a few days straight. This isn't a completely new genre of music for me. I listen Popcaan regularly but I did find out who Vybz Kartel is earlier this month. Below are my favorite dancehall songs: Butter Flies- AJ Tracey Pon De River Pon De Bank- Elephant Man Pon De Replay- Rihanna No Letting Go- Wayne Wonder Turn Me On- Kevin Lyttle Pon De Floor- Major Lazer Like Glue- Sean Paul Make it Clap- Busta Rhymes/Sean Paul Romping Shop- Vybz Kartel/Spice Nobody Has to Know- Kranium/Major Lazer Only Man She Want- Popcaan Ova Dweet- Popcaan

Lil Wayne Superlatives

Image
In honor of the Carter V's long-anticipated, I'm going to try and come up with as many high school yearbook superlatives or awards for Lil Wayne songs/beats/punchlines. Like previously mentioned in my blogs Lil Wayne was the first rappers that really got me into hip-hop (Kanye West as well but we're not going to begin to talk about him right now). I can tell you that numerous drives to high school included bass rattling the mirrors in my parent's minivan or my 95 jetta. Best Punchlines Ask Them- The Drought is Over The lines are so fire he runs his own verse back numerous times and you love it. There are numerous that could end up on this. I went with the song that stuck out in my mind the most. Best High School Dance Song Lolipop- Carter 3 While Bedrock was also in contention here, I'm pretty sure this song was played 4 times at my high school homecoming dance. Best Freestyle Top Back' So iconic and effortless. Easy choice he

10 Song Shuffle Challenge, CRAZY VIBES BRUV

Last week after having the same laptop since the summer before my freshman year of college (summer 2009) damn I'm old. I decided to get a new laptop while after almost 10 years my previous computer was on its last legs. Once I realized how much much I had saved on my old laptop it took almost 2 days to transfer over 70 GB of music. So since I have an extra day this weekend I decided to put my entire library on shuffle and give my thoughts on the 10 random songs I get. I have to listen to the full track. Song #1  Shot For Me- Drake Wow starting off with one of the most played songs on my library, 355 times according to iTunes. I must have been in my feelings. Still fire 4 melancholy tears of 5 Song #2 Drive in Drive Out- Dave Matthews Band I used to be a big Dave Matthews Band guy especially this album Crash and some of the live CDs that were like 10 different discs.  Solid song 3.5 glasses of cold brew out of 4 Song #3 Lo Bootz- 2 Chainz

ASTROWORLD IS NOT FIRE... ITS A FIRE BLAST ATTACK FROM A FULLY EVOLVED CHARIZARD DIRECTLY INTO YOUR SOUL

Image
FYI: I WILL ONLY DO THIS BLOG IN ALL CAPS IN HONOR OF THE UNMITIGATED ELUSTRIOUS HIGH ENERGY ALBUM WE RECEIVED ON THURSDAY AUGUST 3RD. EVERY SINCE ASTROWORLD CAME OUT I HAD SO MUCH ENERGY AND BEEN ELATED WITH ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE. WE HEARD RUMORS ABOUT ASTROWORLD BEING IN PRODUCTION AND RECEIVED IT AFTER WE FELT LIKE AN ETERNITY. BUTTERFLY EFFECT CAME OUT LIKE A YEAR AGO AND I DON'T EVEN CARE I STILL LISTEN TO IT EVERYDAY AND DRIVE MY SATURN ION LIKE I'M TRAVIS SCOTT IN THE MUSIC VIDEO. HERE'S HOW I WOULD TRY TO EXPLAIN LISTENING TO TRAVIS SCOTT TO SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER LISTENED TO MUSIC BEFORE. LISTENING TO TRAVIS SCOTT IS LIKE EATING THE 3 COURSE DINNER BUBBLE GUM FROM WILLY WONKA WHILE ALSO THROWING A HANDFUL OF POP ROCKS INTO YOUR MOUTH. HALF THE TIME YOU'RE TRYING TO DIGEST WHAT YOU'RE HEARING WITH RANDOM EXPLOSIONS BUT AT THE SAME TIME YOU'RE ENJOYING EVERY MINUTE. BELOW ARE MY FAVORITE SONGS AND HOW THEY MAKE ME FEEL/THO

Summer Jams Playlist FLAME EMOJIS

YOOOOOOOOO... It's summertime finally and if you're like me it's way overdue. In Minnesota, we had a foot and a half of snow a week ago so now I'm walking around in 60-degree weather in tank top shorts and sandals. Here is my summer heat playlist. Whether you're chilling with your summer boo, driving with the windows down or taking afternoon naps with Netflix autoplay to the next episode this is for you. Bargain- Aftertheparty I randomly heard the song on the radio and have to find out what it was. Pretty song for the "summer late night vibes". Dawsin's Breek- Ty Dolla $ign/Jeremih This song features two of the best melodic singers and a fire drop. Voices- Johnny Yukon New singer Johnny Yukon just came out with his first album. This is the top song imo. Pills & Automobiles- Chris Brown/Yo Gotti/a Boogie This came out late 2017 but feels like a summer jam. OTW- Khalid/6lack/Ty Dolla Sign If you're dealing

Innovative Flows in Hip Hop

Image
As hip-hop grows as a genre we've seen numerous trends and styles come and go. This goes for beats, various phrases, and flows. There are numerous examples of artists creating flows/styles to later be reimagined by present-day artists. Rartistslody Flow This is when a rapper almost sounds as though they are singing their verse. The first time I heard this style of rapping was when I heard Ride with Me by Nelly. As a young kid, this was easy for me to understand and blurred the line between singing and rapping. There are numerous examples of present-day rappers incorporating melody into the way they rap. The most obvious case is Drake, who will go from rapping to singing within the same verse. Other examples of this are Quavo, Travis Scott, and Chris Brown. One interesting story about this type of rapping is when Chris Brown was put on the David Banner song Stuntin' is a Habit, Chris asked for a verse instead of doing the chorus which is typical for a singer. This was

OVO Sound Playlist (Excluding Drake & The Weeknd)

Image
If you have read this blog or know me at all you know I am a huge fan of Drake and all of the artists on his OVO label. one of my favorite mixes is the OVO Sound mix that comes out on Sundays. Here are my favorite tracks from OVO artists that aren't Drake or The Weeknd. Majid Jordan Probably my favorite out of all of these artists. This duo combines catchy hooks and melodies to make songs you could dance or cry to. I'm still sad I had to give up tickets to their concert at First Ave a few years back. Must listen: Gave Your Love Away. I want to perform this song at karaoke like the music video. You Gave Your Love Away Outro Place Like This Make it Work dvsn With high pitched vocals and sometimes soft beats many songs on their album run together. But after I saw dvsn live as they opened for Drake at the Summer 16 tour I became a big fan.  Must listen: Don't Choose. The drop transition is crazy, goes from light snare/bells t

Same Girl- An Investigative Look

Image
In late 2009 Usher and R Kelly released one of the greatest storytelling songs of the century called Same Girl. The song details the two's conversation describing a new romance. After telling each other about their new love interest they start to realize they have been "messing with the same girl". However according to the music video, they aren't dating the same woman... they're each dating a twin! Let's look at the lyrics to see how this was possible. Here is the video to view for yourself  here . Below is what we know about their love interest and how likely it is that these twins could both hold these characteristics or traits. She's 5'4 -It's very likely that twins would be the same height Curvy figure -They both may have a similar figure Drives a black Durango -Seems a little unlikely but maybe they got a good deal at the dealership License plate says Angel -Unless they share a car this is illegal Tatoo on her ankle

Ultimate High School Dance Party Playlist

I graduated from high school in 2009 there are certain songs that will forever stay with me. Whether it was a song that had a goofy dance you had to learn or memories of awkwardly trying to ask a girl to dance. Fun side note: the first time I every slow danced with a girl was in 6th grade to David Banner's Cadillac on 22s which is extremely funny looking on back on. It's funny to think that the DJ at Marcy Open school's dance decided to play that song for a bunch of middle schoolers. Here are the songs that not only were fire to me in high school but I can listen to now. Slow Jamz- Kanye West It still baffles me that when you're out at a bar or party this song isn't played every time. The fact that it's a song everyone knows and has a great balance of hip hop and r&b. Whatever You Like- TI I remember first hearing this song after a high school football practice. The melody/beat made this song an instant hit. Peaches and Cream- 112 An ext
