What was the Most Hype Album/Moment in Recent Memory/RARE Ultimate Hypeplaylist - Scientific Investigation
Every year there's an album or artist the captures the culture. From people carrying around gas containers with Crunk Juice to everyone trying to get a pair of Gucci flip-flops. Currently, ASTROWORLD has people going crazy, just watch Travis Scott's recent Lollapoloza performance as proof.
Today I am going to try my best to determine which moment/album/artist had us the most hype/crunk/lit. I'll also highlight which song

Today I am going to try my best to determine which moment/album/artist had us the most hype/crunk/lit. I'll also highlight which song
Waka Flocka- Flockaveli
The first album from Waka came hard with banging beats from Lex Luger. Biggest hits on the album were Hard in the Paint and No Hands. Since this album came out we haven't see Flocka come with nearly as much fire as this. But when this first came out he had people going crazy. The album also had a few hidden jams like TTG and Snakes in the Grass.
Final Hype rating: 7/10
My rating is due to the fact that most songs were overtly about violence so not everybody was trying to go crazy. Most of the songs hold up well years later like Groove St. Party.
Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys- Crunk Juice
Almost didn't want to write about this album as it was just before social media took off but I couldn't mention the album that founded crunk. It's sad today to see Lil Jon making corny songs when he came from this but at least he's getting paid.
Crunk juice was so hot I remember people buying gasoline containers and filling them up with water/kool-aid because the Eastside Boys did it.
Turn "Get Crunk" on via headphones at full volume and try to argue with me about this album on this list.
Final Hype rating: 8/10
Only reasons this album isn't higher is because I was in early high school when it came out and it doesn't quite have the depth of fire that other albums on this list have.
Travis Scott- ASTROWORLD
Trying to get past recently bias as this album came out around a month ago... from Butterfly Effect to Sicko Mode this album leads this list for "Oh sh**" moments. All you have to do is type in "Sicko Mode reaction on Youtube" to see some hilarious moments of people hearing the rollercoaster of a song with the no warning appearance of drake.
Final Hype rating: 9/10
Still need more time to see how this album holds up long term but right now, as Travis Scott says "it's lit!"
Drake- What a Time/If You're Reading this it's Too Late
We've seen a lot of different sides of Drake from the British accent to dancehall to crying about an ex. These two albums came with full bravado with high energy. Some
Migos- Culture
Maybe it was lighting in a bottle maybe it was the beats but Culture was a great album. Ever since this album came out I've tried to listen to newer Migos and it's a tough listen. It has to lead me to ask the question are the Migos actually good? The group kind of reminds me of an NBA player who caught fire and put up big numbers only to be assumed talented for the rest of their career. Are the Migos the Jeremy Lin of hip hop??
Regards of those thoughts this was a fire album, between T Shirt and Bad/Boujee it had everybody rocking.
Final Hype rating: 7/10
There are some duds on the albums and it's not as deep as others or doesn't hold up quite as well as others.
Future- DS2
I could have listed three mixtapes alongside DS2 as well. I don't think a rapper has ever had a hotter year or so then future had since maybe Lil Wayne 08-10'. It started with a few mixtapes and ended with DS2.
Future even threw release concerts for the album around the country but was shut down due to how wild the crowds trying to get in were.
