My Throwback R&B Musical

So many r&b songs tell a vivid story about love, heartbreak, and romance. My idea, take all the amazing songs from the 90s/00s to make a musical. Below is my extremely rough concept, hit me up with ideas/feedback.

Ain't Nobody a Musical written by Matt Ostrow

It starts out a rainy day and both of our lead characters are on dates that are going well we'll name them Trey and Alicia (after the two r&b singers Trey Songz and Alicia Keys). Cut to split screen where both get to their respective apartments excited about their potential love interests. They both start singing a duet version of It Feels Good by Tony Toni Tone.

But both Trey and Alicia start to see sketchy behavior from their new boyfriend/girlfriends. *Trouble by Bei Maejor* starts to be sung by the chorus in the background.

Now it is evident that both Trey and Alicia are being cheated on. Both find texts on their interests phone and random things in their apartment that lead them to come this conclusion. A cheating melody of songs is song first Fill Me In by Craig David is sung by Trey which leads into a call and response mash-up of It Wasn't Me by Shaggy (sung by Alicia's bf) and Say My Name by Destiny Child (sung by Alicia).

Now both our single going through their daily lives. Alicia a doctor and Trey accountant in the same building passing each other on the way to work. We next get Alicia singing I Wanna Be Down by Brandy while she is just going through the daily motions in her life.

After her solo we cut to Trey out with his friends at a bar where they meet girls and he's not feeling it. He starts to sing I Need a Girl Part 1 by Diddy while in the uber on the way home.

Trey and Alicia bump into each other on their way to work *instrumental for I'm Sprung by T Pain plays. She makes him spill his coffee all over his work clothes. She apologizes and asks if she can make it up to him by asking him out for a drink.

Later that day they both are getting ready for the date. Trey sings U Don't Have to Call by Usher

Move to a crowded bar where our main characters lock eyes and it goes slow motion while they dance to Rock Wit'cha by Bobby Brown sang by the Chorus.

The next day Alicia runs into her ex-boyfriend who she broke up with years ago. They start dating and she distances herself from Trey. But he knows they should be together, he then a few weeks later goes to her apartment and sings One Wish by Ray J while on the street to her window.

They kiss and makeup and are now back together and sing together Tell Me by Groove Theory.

Fast forward 2 years later the couple is getting married and the Trey sings I Wanna Know by Joe Alicia sings For You I Will by Monica

Credits and finale to Ain't No Body by Chaka Kahn
