Desert Island Playlist

We all have those songs that for whatever reason never get old to us. It could be because it reminds you of when you first heard it, the lyrics could resonate with you or simply the beat is fire. Here is my short playlist of songs that I could listen to on repeat on a desert island.

Dreams- Fleetwood Mac

Where I (probably) was when I first heard this song:

I've always been a fan of Fleetwood Mac but more recently after purchasing a record player and getting Rumors on vinyl did I really fall in love with Dreams. Since I got my record player the majority of the time Rumors staying on.

Purple Rain- Prince

Where I (probably) was when I first heard this song:

In the womb? Who knows as a Minnesotan admiration for Prince is in your blood.

Imaginary Player- Jay Z

Where I (probably) was when I first heard this song:

Sitting in my basement and found this song via limewire or youtube.

The second hip hop album I really liked was the Black Album by Jay Z while in middle school. After that I went back and listened to older Jay Z and this is probably my favorite song from Hov.

No Other- Lil Wayne feat. Juelz Santana

Where I (probably) was when I first heard this song:

Probably driving my family's red mini van playing this song way too loud via a burnt cd.

I had to include at least one Lil Wayne song as he's all I listened to in high school. This song features Juelz who IMO could've done so much more as a solo artist but that convo is for another day. Honorable mentions I almost included from Wayne on this list: Beat Without Bass, Best Rapper Alive and Top Back.

Whip Appeal- Baby Face

Where I (probably) was when I first heard this song:

While living in Houston I really got into the R&B sub genre of New Jack Swing. This song by Babyface is so smooth and beautiful.

Trust Issues- Drake

Where I (probably) was when I first heard this song:

I honestly don't think I have Trust Issues in my life but the fact that this song is the number one most played song on my iTunes library with 500 says something...

Rock the Boat- Aaliyah

Where I (probably) was when I first heard this song:

Amazing beat and song, I truly believe Aaliyah would be as big as Beyonce if she wouldn't have tragically been taken so soon.

Da Mystery of Chessboxin'- Wu Tang

Where I (probably) was when I first heard this song:

Raw hip hop bars with little to no frills.

I Don't Trust Myself Loving You- John Mayer

Where I (probably) was when I first heard this song:

Driving my 96 green Jetta.
